I was her granddaughter Ashleigh's teacher the year Ashleigh's mother and Mary's daughter Eileen passed away. She was a true lady. She began her teaching career in a one room schoolhouse in Fraser’s Grant, and went on to a long and rewarding career at St. Andrew Junior High School, teaching English, and fulfilling roles as librarian and Vice Principal for many years. Bernice married her partner for life, Michael Walsh, in 1967 and together they raised two children in Scarborough and later Whitby. We hope to keep your legacy alive continuing to make you proud of your girls.

She was such a lovely, sweet, kind person who was adored by everyone who met her. She was one of eight siblings and was cherished by every member of her family. Bernice was born December 8, 1948 in St. Johns, Newfoundland to James and Margaret Sheehan. A wonderful, caring person that will be missed by many people.
The students loved her. Visitation will be from 2-4 and 7-9 on Tuesday March 10th in MacIsaac Funeral Home, 61 Pleasant St., Antigonish, Funeral Mass  11 am, Wednesday March 11th in St. Ninian’s Cathedral, Antigonish.
