The grounds of the chateau remain something of a work in progress, with a nice sunny pool area, herb, fruit and vegetable gardens, and a moat. The Chateau was hosting an international music festival at the time of my stay which bought the opportunity to fraternise with local residents, practice my French and attend a rather splendid dinner in the Chapel. felt very safe and everything was nice and clean. We ended up with a very large, ground floor suite (no air-con noise here), containing two bathrooms with all the facilities, and a lounge/dining area. to drive further afield.
They used the proceeds to buy the fabulous 30-room Chateau de Jalesnes near Saumur in the Loire Valley for the same price, before spending an eye-watering £3.5million on a three-year renovation project. The suite was spacious, spotlessly clean and bright with a sense of grandeur. This chateau blew my expectations out of the water. Everything was well organised so that tables were well spaced and only staff wearing masks served salads and sauces etc. We look forward to welcoming you to our home in the very near future. My husband and I spent 10 days at this picturesque Chateau. The apartment we were given was very spacious and luxuriously appointed, with a massive and super-comfortable bed, very stylish bathroom, and well equipped kitchen area. We looked forward to retuning to the chateau every night. In a beautiful setting and short drive to Saumur, this is the ideal base to explore the region.
